About Sycamore

Illinois townships stand as foundational units of local government, embodying a unique and essential aspect of the state’s administrative structure. With 1,428 townships spread across Illinois, each township is able to address the specific needs and aspirations of its residents.

Sycamore Township serves approximately 14,500 residents residing within its boundaries.  By law, Illinois townships must provide three basic functions:  general assistance, assessing properties, maintenance of all roads and bridges outside of federal, state, and other local jurisdiction.  Sycamore Township Road District currently maintains 56.5 miles.
